If you are one of the millions of wrinkle hating mid 30 readers who have sought of everything from drugstore products to internet products then you know that every wrinkle cream promises reducing the effects of aging, primarily caused by sun damage. Of course in reality, although some of these creams may contain ingredients that improve wrinkles over time, there are a lot of ingredients in wrinkle creams that have not been clinically tested thoroughly to reinforce their regenerative benefits. Looking for a face-lift in a bottle is probably a failed quest if you are searching for it over the counter, so how does one get a hold on the best wrinkle-away regimen? Understanding the active ingredients in creams and how they improve the skin condition will help you pick the right product.

To keep within realistic results, it is wise to expect that wrinkle creams bought over the counter will reduce the amount of fine lines on your face depending on the amount and kind of active ingredient that they have. At the moment, there is no non-prescription product that will give you time-reversing results however there are creams that have reasonable skin lifting powers. You may not get a new face out of them but they will make sure you look fresh and rejuvenated- as long as you use them. Retinol, which is an extract from Vitamin A is a popular and notably effective anti-wrinkle ingredient found in many popular wrinkle creams. It isn't as effective as the other Vitamin a derivative Tretinoin, which unfortunately will require a prescription.

Hydroxy Acids are another popular active ingredient in beauty creams. Alpha and Beta Hydroxy are synthetic versions of acids found in sugar containing fruits. These acids act as a natural exfoliant, removing any dead surface cells and stimulates the production of a smooth and pigment balanced skin. Make sure to stock on SPF if you do add Hydroxy-based products as part of your anti-wrinkle wish list as they can amplify sun damage. You can use products with Coenzyme Q10 to compliment, because not only does it balance energy production in cells but it also protects your skin from harmful UV. Studies have shown that Co-Q10 reduces fine lines around the eyes.

Now that you have an understanding of what active ingredients in wrinkle creams do something, if anything for your skin it's now time to work on an anti-wrinkle regimen. First thing is first, remember that anti-wrinkle preparations may lessen the appearance of fine lines, but it always depends on how much you use it and the amount of active ingredient found in the cream. When using wrinkle creams always remember to compliment your regimen with sun protection, keep it fresh with a good moisturizer and avoid wrinkle causing baddies such as smoking and too much radiation.

The advantages of collagen line filler are cosmetic. They bend light slightly, which makes wrinkles appear less deep.
Depending on the quality of the ingredients in the product, the benefits may be very short-lived. Some users have said that the effect is gone by the time they go outside.
Some ingredients have a beneficial effect over time, as well as the cosmetic effect. It mostly depends on the kind of protein they contain. Collagen, elastin and most kinds of keratin are inactive proteins. The proteins are hard in nature. The high heat and harsh chemicals needed to soften them also render them inactive.
There is one kind of keratin which is extracted from sheep's wool. Using patented processes, the company that manufacturers it has been able to soften it without destroying its basic nature. They call the ingredient "Functional Keratin".
It has the cosmetic effect of bending light slightly and filling in fine lines temporarily. In addition, it improves the skin's health and appearance with regular use. It has been shown to stimulate the production of new cells and fibers, something that normally slows down with age.
It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Both of those things are beneficial for addressing the underlying causes of an aged appearance. The typical collagen line filler contains hyaluronic acid. Decreasing levels of hyaluronic acid is another of the causes of an aged appearance. However, just applying it directly is of limited benefit.
Extracts from a kind of kelp called wakame have been shown to inhibit the breakdown of the skin's hyaluronic acid. With the regular use of creams containing wakame, the skin's hyaluronic acid begins to rise to that of a much younger person. Some of the better anti-aging products on the market contain wakame kelp extracts and Functional Keratin.
The collagen line filler used in doctor's offices and day spas is injectable. Hyaluronic acid, porcine collagen and other compounds are injected into the skin's fatty tissue layer. This effectively stretches out wrinkles. But, it really does not look natural and the effect is not long-lasting.
These injectable solutions are expensive, ranging in price from $400-$1000 per treatment. A good anti-aging cream, on the other hand, can be purchased for $30 or $40. It makes since to start with the less expensive option, if only to save money.
Even if you did decide to invest in expensive collagen line filler injections, you would still want to use a good anti-aging cream. Most cosmetic surgeons recommend it. Of course, some of them recommend their own brands or the prescription versions that are available.
If you do a little shopping around, you can easily find creams that are affordable, safe and effective. Functional Keratin and wakame are two of the most effective ingredients. But, there are many others. Coenzyme Q10 and natural vitamin E are examples. They address the issue of free radical damage, which is one of the causes of cellular aging.
Why settle for collagen line filler when so much more is available?
